I translated my blog. Here is why.
Communication is difficult, but in the age of ChatGPT, language should no longer be a barrier.
I once read an essay written in Chinese by a Finnish girl, about the death of her grandmother. It was simple, but very powerful, conveying a sense of philosophy. It was not perfect, of course, as some words would only appear in official documents, but the idea is clear – good writing transcends language.
I thought about a side project, an English blog in addition to the Chinese one. But the thought of writing something great, or as good as Peter Hessler prevents me from typing a single word.
Why not start with the 400+ posts I already have? Write about the things I always want to say and tell the story to a wider audience, by adding a little more background information.
The original blog consists of short articles on various topics ranging from my life in China (and now in Sweden) to comments on social issues. It is about the joy of life and the struggle to become a global citizen, or as the name suggests, a human being.
